Train Simulator: BR Class 303 EMU Add-On Download 12 Mb

Updated: Nov 27, 2020

About This Content One of the first generation of British Rail electric multiple units comes to Train Simulator in eye-catching SPT livery.Based on the well-used Mk1body shell design, 91 units were built by Pressed Steel at Linwood in Paisley between 1959 and 1961, although they were not introduced until 1960 for the electrification of the North Clyde and Cathcart Circles lines in Strathclyde.Initially, the EMUs – nicknamed the ‘Blue Trains’ - were classified as AM3 units before the introduction of the TOPS system in the late 1960s, and operated local and suburban passenger services for more than 40 years before being replaced with new generation EMUs in the 2000s.The BR Class 303 for Train Simulator is a former Iron Horse House model, which has been updated to Train Simulator standard, including new scenarios and improved exterior modelling, and is available in Strathclyde Partnership for Transport orange and black livery. The locomotive is also Quick Drive compatible, giving you the freedom to drive the BR Class 303 on any Quick Drive enabled route for Train Simulator, such as those available through Steam. Also included are scenarios specifically for the West Coast Main Line North route (available separately and required to play these scenarios).ScenariosThree scenarios for the West Coast Main Line North route:Lanark LeccyLeaving LarkhallLower Level ElectricMore scenarios are available on Steam Workshop online and in-game. I remember going onto these trains when i was a kid and there would be this weird smell of burning rubber but i loved it! I was hoping for my memories of these EMUs to be revived. Which is why i bought this. The model itself is pretty good and the passenger view is what i remember a 303 interior to look like, but the sounds are awful it doesn't even sound like a 303 it sounds like a 455 even worse the doors have no sounds and there are no compressor sounds! Which really lets it down. Even though i was only 4 years old when these units where withdrawn I can still remeber the sounds of the compressors rattling away as the units pulled into a station. All i can say is don't buy this unless you get the AP sound pack then it'll be worth the money.. very good and recogmend this to anyone. As qwertyafro says, this train is like a ghost train. Lots of recycled sounds and sometimes none at all. Very Good loco to have if you don't buy anthing, you must get this. Plus in the sale evan better.Preforms well. Good control.. I bought this unit to supplement my purchase of the WCML North and regretted it. It does sound nice when accelerating but as you soon as you shut off the power, NOTHING. No sounds, just nothing. It's as if the traction motors have just died. The horn is reused from the Class 37, nothing realistic about that.Avoid if you can.. I used to ride this type of train as a child and was looking forward to this addon. But i should have known that DTG would screw it up again, this is nothing like a class 303, sound effects are nothing like the real thing and the way the train moves is just wrong this type of train loved to bounce and sway but this addon is lifeless, unless Armstrong Powerhouse release a sound pack for this I would not waste any money on it.24\/03\/2015 Quick update Armstrong powerhouse are working on a sound pack for this EMU. https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/armstrongpowerhouse?fref=ts. I have fond memories of being thrown around on these iconic trains. All the distinctive noises- the "tish" of the doors, the Gresley Bogies and the "digga, digga, digga, digga" of the compressors made these trains special. And absolutely none of these distinctive noises are captured on this add on pack. The train as supplied is virtually silent and fails to capture the character of these trains. It looks great, but sounds terrible. Once you get the Armstrong Powerhouse Sound Pack installed however it changes and the train is absolutely superb. But you shouldn't have to pay \u00a37.99 to buy this Add-on from Steam and then pay \u00a34.99 to Armstrong Powerhouse to make this train actually any good. Poor show Dovetail, poor show.. I rather like this EMU as it sounds a little like the ones I rode on in Wellington, New Zealand. Another good thing with this purchase is that the scenarios for it are on that interesting and diverse northern section of the iconic West Coast Mainline North by Keith Ross. Further . . . If you like the second generation Diesel era, then you will pass a number of these during your journey. Get it now while it is on special.. This is certainly a good train, a real delight to drive.
